Hello everyone and once again I am hear apologises for being very quiet over the past 2 months. Time has really flown by I must say.
2011 was a busy year for the Ilkor development team and I believe we’ve made much progress despite this being a part-time project mixed up with a couple of unforeseen setbacks.
Towards the end of the year we took a little bit of time off to recharge the batteries and spend the festive season with friends and family. As for Jan, well I’m not sure where that month went! Progress on Ilkor has been made during the month of Jan, a little slower than previous months I fear, but we’re now back up to full speed again.
We’ve really got alot happening.
Map Work: I can tell you that Jon, our ace mapper is coming to the end of his work. I’ve been going over the final drafts of the various world and regional map versions that the game will be using. I’m really keen to share some of these with everyone, but you’ll need to wait a little while longer, only a week or so until I’ve checked them over. The full detailed world map is finished, I can tell you that, however we won’t be sharing this with you for sometime yet. It is a highly detailed map, huge in size, larger than A2. It is a truly amazing piece of artist cartography and this level of quality that we are striving to achieve throughout all areas of the game.
Character Creation: Chris is still working on this section. I’ve seen the latest screenshots and soon I hope to also give you guys a sneak preview. We’re very excited about the design of the user interface. It is turning out to be something rather special and a blue print that will be used throughout the game. Hopefully we’ll have a beta version of the character creation process ready before the end of the month and then we’ll start to integrate some of the outstanding artwork, the avatar images and in-game forum. We’re some way from allowing the playtesters to get their hands on this, but an alpha version isn’t that far off.
Artwork: Simon, the Ilkor artist is working towards a date of March 15th. By then he hopes to have completed all the various portraits that we will be using during the character creation process and a large batch of avatars. This will really help bring these screens to life.
Content: Between myself and Scott (a.k.a Senyors the GM) are working hard on the various tasks of injecting more and more content into the game. We are continuously adding new content to the website, the wiki (gazetteer.ilkor.com) and within the GameMaster section for all the metadata entities.
